Process

Gill Children’s Services serves as a last resort for individual Tarrant County children who are falling through cracks and are going without critical services needed for health and well being. Anyone in the community may refer a child to us, however, only under the following circumstances:

  1. All other available resources must be exhausted first. The family’s resources must be completely exhausted, or must be inadequate to completely fund the needed service or item. In other words, other arrangements cannot be made (offered pro bono service or a discount, payment over time, payment through a credit card), leaving a financial gap that is preventing the child from receiving what is needed.
  2. Families must call United Way’s 211 Resource Line to confirm Gill is their last resort. There must not be any other program/agency for which the child can/does qualify for assistance that can provide or fund the needed service/item, or provide/fund it in time. We expect that all reasonable efforts to find other resources will have been made prior to any specific referral of any child to Gill.
  3. Gill’s assistance must be last resort. Gill cannot be approached if the service/item has already been provided. The child absolutely must not be able to receive what is needed without our agency’s assistance.

Gill is not responsible for the expense of any particular service or item unless we have specifically pre-approved payment for that service or item, for a specific date, after agreement with the provider/vendor to a specific discounted amount.
