A Note from the Board President

I am deeply honored to serve as President of the Board of Directors for Gill Children’s Services.
During my nearly 10 years of service on the board, I have had the privilege of witnessing countless children receive resources that have truly changed the course of their lives. Yet my connection to Gill began long before I ever joined the board. In many ways, it began with my grandmother, Ginny Richards.
As a child, I remember my grandmother speaking about the mission of Gill Children’s Services with a deep sense of reverence. In 1979, she and Martine Ginsburg founded Gill as a last resort for children in Tarrant County. They were rooted in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to have their most basic needs met and their future protected.
My Memom was never one to boast about what she accomplished. Instead, I witnessed her quiet, unwavering commitment to serving others. She was always finding a way to give back, whether delivering homemade cookies to inmates, serving meals at local shelters, or organizing another philanthropic effort. She believed that giving back was simply her responsibility because she had been given so much.
One of the things she often said has stayed with me throughout my life: “It could easily be me in a position of need.”
That simple statement says so much about who she was, and about the spirit of Gill. She understood that circumstances can change in an instant, and that compassion asks us to see one another with dignity, humility, and grace.
My grandmother served Gill Children’s Services faithfully until her passing in 2016. Today, it is both a privilege and a profound responsibility to carry forward the work she began alongside Martine nearly five decades ago.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Gill, and even more grateful to do so in a way that honors her legacy: by continuing to show up for children and families when they need us most.
