Gill Children's Services Recognized as Top Dental Charity Provider by Texas Dental Association

Gill Children’s Services of Tarrant County is the recipient of the Texas Dental Association’s 2019 Certificate of Merit award. Each year the TDA recognizes organizations that serve the dental health and welfare of the disadvantaged population of the State of Texas. Such organizations cannot be for-profit dental offices and must provide dental services at low or no cost. Nominations come from the TDA’s 26 local component societies that often work closely with volunteer or charity organizations.
The Honorable Jean Boyd, board member of Gill Children’s Services, accepted the Certificate of Merit on behalf of the organization. The award ceremony occurred May 3, 2019, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, as part of the Texas Dental Association’s 149th annual convention. The award was presented in front of the House of Delegates, the governing body of the Association.
Gill Children’s Services (GCS) is a funding resource that provides a safety net for Tarrant County Children whose dental, medical, physical, social, psychological, and educational needs that cannot be met by other nonprofit agencies or community resources. Since its founding in 1979, GCS has provided funding for over 59,000 critical services. In the last 5 years, over $1.1 million has been allocated for 1,889 dental needs that include treatment, facility, anesthesia, and other services lost in the gap. GCS works with dedicated dentists and other nonprofits to ensure each child is treated with care. GCS provides extensive dental treatment to children when other nonprofit organizations cannot.
